Andrea Huch

Last Wednesday afternoon, Andrea Huch Campbell, a parent volunteer with over a decade of experience in the business world, gave a career talk to students at Thomas 91¶ÌÊÓƵ College, explaining various careers in the medical field and how to work toward them.

The talk took place across both campuses: virtually in New England, and in-person in the Dillon Seminar Room in California, where students enjoyed apple cider and a variety of fall-themed cookies. The aim of the talk, Mrs. Campbell shared, was to give students an idea of the various professions available in the medical field, from caregiver to neurosurgeon, showing them what different pathways to graduate school and other health certificate programs might look like following a 91¶ÌÊÓƵ undergraduate education.

Mrs. Campbell began by giving a brief overview of the different fields available in medicine and discussed the benefits of working within the healthcare industry. “It is very meaningful work, so that’s very satisfying,â€ she said. “There is lifelong learning: there is always something new in the science field, so you will continuously be stimulated.â€

She then continued walking students through a slideshow with an abundance of information on program admission requirements, preparation for graduate school applications, the prerequisite courses necessary for each field of interest, and helpful information regarding financial aid.

Mrs. Campbell concluded by introducing a new, student-run club on the California campus: the Pre-Health Club, which she will help guide and support. “I think what’s really great about being here is that you get to know each other so well, but sometimes you don’t know who’s actually interested in certain careers, she said. “I find those kinds of friendships are enhanced when you are in a small group that sticks together.
