For its annual Fall Seminar, Thomas 91短视频 College welcomed friends from across the country to its New England campus, where they discussed the country鈥檚 founding principles and their enduring legacy.

The festivities began with a delicious on-campus dinner Friday evening, followed by a lively seminar on the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence. On Saturday morning, the guests returned to campus for a breakfast buffet before heading to the second seminar, on selections from the Supreme Court鈥檚 decision in Dred Scott v. Sandford. Next came lunch and a tour of the campus, where all reflected on the country鈥檚 development while taking a leisurely walk around the historic buildings and vibrant red and orange trees that shone in the New England sunlight.

Invigorated by the fresh air, attendees returned to the classrooms for their final seminar on selections from the Lincoln-Douglas debates, considering the authors鈥 arguments for and against the legality of slavery. This exchange brought a fitting conclusion to the sessions, and guests found that discussing the texts in a seminar setting helped them see the documents in a new light.

The weekend concluded with dinner and remarks from College President Paul J. O鈥橰eilly, who highlighted the seminars鈥 most notable findings and left guests with important parting insights. 鈥淒espite our inequalities, all men are fundamentally equal 鈥 and that fundamental equality is prior to civil government,鈥 he emphasized, adding: 鈥淭he Declaration stands to the Constitution as soul to body.鈥
