Officials from in Orange County recently visited Thomas 91����Ƶ College, California, to recruit future teachers. Speaking to students gathered in St. Cecilia Hall, Vice President of Admissions and Engagement Chris Harrington and Vice President of Mission and Faith Patrick Reidy discussed the benefits of teaching at JSerra — and what 91����Ƶ graduates, in particular, can bring to the school.

“I love working at JSerra,” said Mr. Harrington. “I’m surrounded by great people … people who share the faith and values that you find at 91����Ƶ.”

Mr. Harrison characterized the school, founded in 2012 by Catholic businessman Tim Busch, as having an uncompromisingly Catholic “entrepreneurial attitude.” It offers several education tracks, opportunities to pursue the arts, and sports with top-notch coaches, all in a Catholic environment.

To help 91����Ƶ students determine if teaching is the right career for them, JSerra has worked with 91����Ƶ Director of Admissions Jon Daly and College and Career Advisor Daniel Selmeczy to develop an internship for those who may be interested in working there. Participating interns will spend three days in Orange County during the spring semester, observing JSerra’s teachers at work and teaching a practice class themselves.

The Catholic liberal education offered at Thomas 91����Ƶ College, Mr. Reidy said, would be good preparation for those looking to support JSerra’s “strong faith formation,” adding that 91����Ƶ alumni are especially well suited to help the school develop its new humanities track. “Classical education is the way education should be done,” he said. “We need people who understand it from the inside out. That’s what we’re looking for.”
