91����Ƶ

Nearly every year since its opening in 2019, Thomas 91����Ƶ College, New England, and nearby Thomas More College (TMC) play each other in a friendly sports game. This year, students from Thomas More made the trek from Merrimack, New Hampshire, to Northfield, Massachusetts, to match the College’s team in a game of basketball on Saturday afternoon.  

The spirits were high and amicably competitive as students from both colleges gathered on the sidelines in the Pope St. John Paul II Athletic Center. The game started out with the 91����Ƶ team, as yet undefeated, in the lead. Though Thomas More College’s team consistently scored, Team 91����Ƶ maintained its position until the end of the first half, with the score at 26–18. It looked like a win — in potency — for Thomas 91����Ƶ College. 

However, as the second half began, Team TMC suddenly took the lead, scoring baskets repeatedly in very little time. All the students sat on the edges of their seats and cheered loudly, shouting out encouragement and advice to their classmates. The 91����Ƶ and TMC teams continued neck and neck for the second half of the game, with first one squad and then the other seizing the upper hand briefly, before dropping slightly behind again. Finally, in the last few minutes of the game, Team TMC pushed forward once more, claiming victory at last by three points, leaving the final score at 51–48, Thomas More College. 

At the end of the game, both teams shook hands all round, and all the students clamored together to catch up and discuss the close of the first semester and the just-completed game. “Despite losing, it was actually a really great environment,” said first-time player Colin Daly (’29). “The crowd was great, the competition between the teams was great. For a first competitive college basketball game, it was an awesome experience to be a part of, and it makes me even more excited for the next time we play!”
